Horizons of the Spirit

Horizons of the Spirit is an ongoing series of small, square, chunky abstracts that began just before the pandemic lockdown. As I played with acrylic techniques with occasional additions of wire, beads and other mixed media material, I found that each composition seemed to inevitably organize itself around a horizon line. After trying briefly to fight that tendency, I embraced it as an expression of the spirit’s longing for space and release, each painting exploring that theme from a different perspective. The pieces can stand alone or be mixed and matched in whatever combination speaks to the viewer, on a wall or perched on a shelf or table.
